Mega projects

Engineering ambition. Delivering the extraordinary. Shaping the energy frontier

For our parent company, Saudi Aramco, its Saudi Arabia-based mega projects are more than just feats of engineering — they are milestones in a journey of transformation. These ventures reflect the spirit of innovation that drives the entire Aramco Global family, the courage to venture beyond conventional limits, and the discipline to deliver excellence at scale. From deserts once thought uninhabitable to coastlines reshaped with purpose, we turn bold visions into enduring realities — advancing energy, uplifting communities, and shaping a more-sustainable future for generations to come.

Jafurah

The Jafurah unconventional gas field unlocks a new frontier for Aramco in energy leadership. Spanning over 170 km, Jafurah stands as the largest shale gas development outside North America. Harnessing advanced technologies and disciplined execution, the project transforms untapped resources into a reliable supply of cleaner energy. Jafurah reflects our ambition to drive the Kingdom’s energy transition, enable downstream industries, and uplift communities—while setting new standards in environmental stewardship and technical excellence.

Manifa

Sadara facility at night

Sadara

As the world’s largest integrated chemical complex ever built in a single phase at the time of construction, Sadara exemplifies Aramco’s downstream ambition: to maximize the value of every hydrocarbon molecule. This joint venture with Dow Chemical places Aramco at the cutting edge of chemical manufacturing, while reinforcing its commitment to diversifying Saudi Arabia’s industrial base.

Shaybah

Located deep within the Rub’ al-Khali — one of the harshest environments on Earth —Shaybah is a triumph of determination and design. Discovered in 1968 and brought to life decades later, the field required Aramco project teams to overcome blistering heat, shifting sands, and complete isolation. Today, Shaybah stands as a testament to what bold vision and technological prowess can achieve.
Wasit gas production plant at night

Wasit

The Wasit Gas Plant is among the largest non-associated gas facilities that Aramco has ever built — designed from the ground up to process unconventional energy resources. Brought online in 2015 and fully operational by 2016, Wasit marked a turning point in Aramco’s strategy to meet the Saudi Arabia’s  growing domestic energy needs while contributing to a lower-carbon future.

Fadhili Gas Plant

Fadhili is a key component of Saudi Arabia’s strategy to expand its natural gas capabilities. Processing up to 2.5 billion standard cubic feet of gas per day, it delivers cleaner energy to support domestic power generation and industrial use. Built through international collaboration, the plant combines advanced engineering with a strong focus on efficiency and environmental standards.
