in coordination with NGO ‘IamGurgaon’ plant native saplings in Aravali Creek to enhance environmental sustainability
On Wednesday July 31, a total of 24 employees from Aramco Asia India (AAI) volunteered to participate in a plantation drive at the Aravali Creek, in Gurugram. The drive was part of Aramco’s partnership with NGO IamGurgaon to rejuvenate Aravali Creek including landscaping and increasing vegetation cover. The revived Aravali Creek was inaugurated on 4 March 2024.
Aramco recognizes its responsibility to promote environmental sustainability by adopting practices that protect and preserve our natural resources for the future. This project, aligning with our global efforts, aims to foster biodiversity and promote ecological stability. This initiative with IamGurgaon will support sustainable development of community spaces and contribute to the betterment of the city.
Through this volunteering activity, volunteers reaffirmed their commitment to the preservation of the environment by planting native saplings (e.g. Adusa, Gangeti, Kalo Siras, Anwal, etc.) These saplings will promote the local biodiversity and require less maintenance since they are indigenous to the local environment and aid in creating a stable and resilient ecosystem. AAI has been pro-actively taking measures to motivate and encourage its employees to become more environmentally conscious through such initiatives.
NGO IamGurgaon has been working towards making the city a cleaner, greener, and better place to live. This collaboration with Aramco has enabled restoration of Aravali Creek, once an essential biodiversity hub to serve as a refuge for diverse flora and fauna. The project will not only help control flooding in the city but also create a scenic, safe, and shaded path for pedestrians.
