During the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, Aramco partnered with The Akshaya Patra Foundation to support food security for households impacted by widespread income loss. The initiative targeted daily wage earners and informal sector workers across multiple cities, many of whom faced the immediate risk of food shortages due to extended lockdowns.

Meal kits containing essential dry staples were distributed through an established national logistics network, with a focus on efficient last-mile delivery. Each kit was designed to meet the nutritional needs of a family for over a week.

Aramco’s role prioritized scale, coordination, and speed, ensuring timely delivery to affected communities. This intervention supported national response efforts and helped stabilize access to food during a period of acute disruption.

To reinforce emergency healthcare systems during the pandemic, Aramco supported the installation of oxygen generation plants at three rural Primary Health Centres in Maharashtra — located in Nashik, Jalgaon, and Deonar.

Each facility now operates a dedicated oxygen plant capable of producing high-purity medical-grade oxygen on-site, significantly reducing reliance on external supply chains. The infrastructure enhances the hospitals' ability to manage not only respiratory emergencies but also routine procedures that require oxygen support.

Hospital staff were trained in plant operations and maintenance, and the equipment was integrated into each centre’s long-term infrastructure planning. The project delivers lasting value by strengthening local capacity to respond to future public health challenges.
